	<description>
	We salute Lisa Coakley and Tim Taylor for their performances in the annual Albatross Open meet in March. Lisa established two records in the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly events, and set a team record and personal best in the 100 IM. Time set a team record in the 100 IM, too.

We received the following message from the organization's director: Thanks for all the great work you've done for Rebuilding Together Alexandria and Mrs. Butler. We couldn't do this without you! <title>Colonies Zone Championship Swimmers</title>
	<link>http://www.alexandriamasters.com/news.htm#colonieszone</link>
	<description>
	Nine Alexandria Masters swimmers traveled across town to George Mason University to swim along side swimmers throughout the northeast in the annual Colonies Zone SCY Championship meet.
To start, Katie Gilmore swam to four first places in 100, 200, 500, and 1000 freestyle events. She also set new team records in the 1000 and the 400 individual medley. We found Lisa Keyser swimming in her first masters meet. For men, Chris Hoffman's 100 and 200 butterfly were good enough for his personal best masters times. Tim Taylor swam all personal best times in his 5 events: 50 back, 50 fly, 100 fly, and 100 and 200 IM. Dan Jent swam to four new personal best times in the 30-34 age group, and broke his own team record in the 50 fly. Matias Palavecino established a new team record in the 1650 freestyle. Laurence Clark, Ray Novitske, and Mark Harris also participated and placed to score points for the team's total.

	<title>USMS Coaching Training Held</title>
	<link>http://www.alexandriamasters.com/news.htm#coaches</link>
	<description>
	Alexandria Masters played host a regional US Masters Swimming Coaches Training for Level 1 and 2 certification on March 31. Thirty coaches from DC, Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina attended the day-long session taught by the national office coaching committee. Three from our team attended, and several coaches and trainers attended our happy hour on Friday evening in Old Town Alexandria. . .
Some of the collected fees returned to us exceeded our hosting expenses, so we donated the excess to the US Masters Swimming Saves Lives Foundation, approximately $90. Thanks to Ray Novitske, Drew Killian, Karen Gibbs, Katherine Leightley, Jen Crowther, and Andy Whitney for chipping in and helping with the hosting duties.

	<title>Tropical Splash Team Results</title>
	<link>http://www.alexandriamasters.com/news.htm#trop</link>
	<description>
	Sixteen of Alexandria Masters swimmers out of 180 swam in our own Tropical Spalsh in January 2012, with over 25 others volunteering for setup, timing, baking, and cleanup. For the record books, Amanda Koons, Simon and Katherine Leightley, and Paul Bales were entered in their first Masters meet with our team. Surprisingly, with all our entries, only one swimmer broke any team records, although there were a few personal bests times. Doug Masterson broke his own records in the 100 freestyle and 100 individual medley events. In addition, Sunny Kim swam personal best times in the 50 and 100 freestyle, and Tim Taylor in the 50 free and 50 back.
